Trinidad. Hiking, surfing, boating, and camping are only a
few of the activities available in Trinidad. World-class fishing
brings many visitors to the area.

Indian
Beach- the site of the ancient Tsurai Indian village is
just below the Memorial Light House

Trinidad
State Beach- access this gorgeous beach from the parking
lot at Trinidad Bay

Luffenholz
Beach- on Scenic Drive. Spectacular scenery with seastacks,
sea lions and Luffenholz Creek. A trail takes the visitor
to a vantage point above the beach where the waves crash
below.

Houda
Point- on Scenic Drive. Watch the surfers and see the remains
of an old lumber loading station

Moonstone-
off of Scenic Drive. The Little River meets the sea beneath
towering cliffs. Great beach for families

College
Cove- hike down a gentle slope to a beautiful sheltered
beach. A short hike above the beach reaches Elk’s Head with
thundering waves and wind and breath-taking rugged scenery

Big
Lagoon County Park – Big Lagoon is separated from the Pacific
Ocean by a sand spit. The lagoon is calm and great for kayaking,
canoeing and row boating. Campsites are available at the
County Park.

Patrick’s
Point State Park- look for agates on Agate Beach, visit
Sumeg Village, a reconstruction of a Yurok Indian village.
Campsites are available at the park.
HIKING
Follow
the trail up Trinidad Head and watch the grey whales on their
migration. Other trails take the hiker to ocean overlooks,
through Redwood forests and along beaches. Trail maps are
available at locations in Trinidad.
BOATING
A
boat launch is available at Trinidad Pier for ocean fishing
boats. A free launch area is located near the pier on the beach
for kayaks and small boats. A boat launch is also available
for non-power boats at Big Lagoon.

Grey
whales, seals and sea lions, river otters abound along the
beaches. Giant Roosevelt elk can be viewed at numerous locations
near Orick. Over 400 species of birds including Osprey, puffins,

abound at many beaches.
